“When I hear music, I fear no danger. I am invulnerable. I see no foe. I am related to the earliest times, and to the latest”
-Henry David Thoreau
A bag of chips and a walkman. That’s all I needed to keep me out of trouble in elementary school as a latchkey kid with a penchant for creating elaborate solo air bands and writing out lyrics in exercise books until my parents called me for dinner.
I can’t recall anything without referencing the songs that were playing at the time or the melodies that remind me of what I was feeling at that time. Even when I imagine living in a different era or what if I had made a different choice I always think of it in the context of the songs that would accompany that time.
